This modest work would never have seen the light of day without the considerable efforts of my dear friend, who accompanied me on so many travels across the vast expanse of the ancient land of Airyanem vaejah (Land of the Aryans).
A refined, polite, compassionate man,
Never reviled, condemned fellow man,
Friend, confidant, comrade every man,
Truthful, unpretentious, guileless man.
Benefactor, the most evil, odious man,
Never held grudges against any man,
Forgave transgression of many a man.
In war a warrior intrepid, fearless man.
God’s will aligns, decrees affairs, man,
Gave 62 years earthly voyage our man,
Lost in cold Damavand mists, our man,
Send Arash guide home soul, our man.
Arash the archer is believed to inhabit the slopes of
Mt. Damavand. Many have sworn that they were led to safety by the mighty warrior when they were lost on the mountain.
We hope that the soul of our friend, who was lost there will also be brought home.
