“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”― George Orwell
History, a victor’s lie, fiction to glorify, eulogize, massacres, ravages, wealth ill-gotten,
Attainments, accomplishments, gallantry of slain, vanquished, unmentioned, forgotten.
The most precious artefacts lost when Alexander burnt Persepolis were the clay tablets that had recorded a millennium of History
IN MARCH 637 A.D THE TAZIAN BURNT THE BOOKS OF THE GRAND LIBRARY OF CTESIPHON TO HEAT WATER FOR THEIR BATHS. THEY SHREDDED THE BAHARESTAN CARPET INTO 60,000 PIECES OF WAR BOOTY, ONE PIECE FOR EACH OF THEIR SOLDIERS TO SELL. EACH PIECE SOLD FOR 20,000 DIRHAMS.
The humble composition is dedicated to:
The knights, soldiers, who their life for this standard gave,
Mothers, wives, children, who their fathers, brothers, gave.
Warriors, martyrs so dauntless, courageous, fearless, bold,
Their wives, daughters, harem detained, slave market sold.
Heroism, gallantry, prowess, valour of ancestors forgotten,
Liberty, freedom, sovereignty by the descendants forgotten.
Derafsh-e-Kaviani was the national standard. It was made of leather of the apron of Kaveh, the ironmonger, when he went into battle with Fereydunn against evil Zahakk. There were gems inserted in it. It was burnt by the Tazian at Qadiseyeh in 636 A.D and the gems were distributed as loot. Radman Pur i Mahak carried the noble, august standard proudly for the last time when he attacked Baghdad in 874.A.D.
The so called history of Persians is complete falsehood, untruth, concoction, fabrication,
Written by it's conquerors, raiders, depreciators, detractors, enemies of the faith, nation.
Outsider's imposed interpretation of our history is lies, deception, invention, subversion,
Of personalities, events we have our own unsaid, unspoken, unrecorded account, version.
From mist of discourteous, disrespectful, derisive stories, to glean history's true course,
Only to Ateshkadeh, Holy Bible, Ferdowsi's Shahnameh, we must resort, have recourse.

Twenty-five centuries, by a false history deluded,
Fiction, fabrication offered, truth, veracity eluded.
Self-doubt, denial, misgivings, we were secluded,
Time, restore dignity, honour, prestige precluded.

To his sons gave his hand, soul from body departed.

Dar Setayesh-e-Khudavand
In praise of the Lord, prayer with which
Ferdowsi begins the Shahnameh.
I start this composition with the name of the Lord,
Giver, greatest benefaction, life, wisdom, the Lord.
Nothing, greater, glorious, these gifts of the Lord,
Numerous names, identities, residences, the Lord.
Livelihood, vocation, occupation, means he grants,
Guidance, counsel, advice, assistance, aid, grants.
Movement, progression, sky, luminaries, bestows,
Luminosity, radiance, Sun, Moon, Venus, bestows.
Name, home, limit, our understanding transcends,
Omnipresent, universal, our comprehension, ends.
Substance, mass, body, elements, can’t conceive,
Senses can’t discern, envisage, fathom, perceive.
Residence, abode, dwelling, habitation, won’t bind,
In your prayer, supplication, devotion, search, find.
Despite his gift, life, wisdom, sagacity, awareness,
Can’t appreciate, admire, his grandeur, greatness.
Unique, singular, unmatched, unrivaled, peerless,
Decline, renounce words, inappropriate, heedless.
With body, soul, honour, glorify, pray, venerate,
Rectitude, virtue, devotion, follow, path, dictate.
He, bereft of gratitude, thanks, praise, live, tried,
Fortune, fortuitousness, luck, serendipity, denied.
Peaceful, contented, serene are thankful, grateful,
Fear, dread, trepidation, fills hearts of ungrateful.
